Objectives

Entry requirements
Successful applicants must normally hold at least a lower second Honours degree in a related subject. Applicants with a lower class of degree and/or from outside of these areas will be considered individually and are usually interviewed prior to being offered a place. Applicants without a first degree, but who have relevant work experience, are also considered on an individual basis.

Course description
This course is aimed at students who wish to pursue a research degree in sustainable agriculture. The course is suitable for students wishing to obtain a short introduction to research prior to directly entering a research environment in employment or as a research student at PhD level.
In addition, the programme is suitable for people who are already employed in appropriate research and development environments to study for a higher degree on a part-time basis. Students who have training needs that are more specific than those offered by the current taught masters provision would find this course a viable alternative.

Successful students will find employment in the rapidly expanding sustainable and organic agricultural sectors in the UK and overseas.
Course content
A limited range of taught modules are offered and suitable supervisors are also available to support students undertaking this programme.
Projects will be offered in the following areas:
* Organic Certification and Trade,
* Composting and the Maintenance of Soil Fertility,
* Alternative Agricultural Systems,
* Agroforestry and other aspects of the sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.
