    This two-year programme enables you to meet the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery (NMC) Standards to support learning and assessment in practice, stage 4 Teacher standard (NMC 2006) The programme is managed and taught as a partnership between the School of Health and School of Education Successful completion of year one of the programme provides you with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Healthcare Practitioners. Successful completion of year two provides you with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education for Healthcare Practitioners PLUS the recordable professional qualification of Teacher (NMC 2006) The NMC teacher standard is mandatory for those registrants who are teachers employed in higher education and who support students on NMC approved programmes in practice settings Through the completion of a dissertation, which takes one additional year, the programme also provides you with the opportunity to gain an MA Education
  • Entry requirements
    You will need a good first degree (an honours degree first or second class or equivalent) from a UK University or other equivalent awarding body Applicants without a first degree must be employed within a teaching role and must be able to provide sufficient evidence of study to at least Diploma in Higher Education level. This will be verified at an interview with the award leader You need to be employed within an environment in which teaching forms a substantial part of your role, and produce written evidence from your employer that you are able to meet the requirements of the course You will need to have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
