    Entry Conditions Students shall normally have gained: • A second class honours degree or better from a University of the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland, or from another institution which has been recognised by the Senate for this purpose; OR • An equivalent standard in a professional or other qualification recognised by the Senate for this purpose. Exceptionally candidates who do not satisfy the above requirements may be admitted at the discretion of the Senate where ‘exceptionally’ is no more than 10% of student intake. Candidates entering under this exceptional clause may be required to undertake and pass an examination as required by the Course Committee

  • Course description
    The Masters degree in Sport Management is a new course suitable for aspiring graduates from any academic discipline who wish to pursue a career in sport management. It is the only such programme on the Island of Ireland and offers a sought after qualification combined with practical managerial experience.

    The modules on the course will provide you with a thorough grounding in general business and management principals as well as specifics relating to the field of sports management. The course aims to develop your understanding of sport management theory as well as other interpersonal skills which are essential to be a successful manager. These interpersonal skills include planning, presentations, organisation and groupwork.

    Duration and Mode of Attendance

    Full-time; three semesters; usually one year. There will be a residential induction programme which is compulsory. This normally takes place prior to the first week of semester 1 in mid-September.

    Structure and Content

    Students begin the course by studying towards the postgraduate diploma in semesters 1 and 2, on successful completion of this they progress onto semester 3 and the full masters qualification.

    Students study 6 modules in semesters 1 and 2. In semester 3 there are 2 modules and then students work towards completing their Management Project whilst working on an internship.

    Semester III
    -Leadership and Change
    -Capstone International Strategy
    -Placement Project & Internship

    Students may exit after completing 120 credit points with a Postgraduate Diploma in Sport Management.
