• Course description
  This programme is the route for graduates wishing to embark on a career as a teacher. The programme consists of 18 weeks of study in the faculty and 18 weeks of school experience in our partner schools.
  
  Within the programme there are separate pathways for qualification as a primary teacher or as a secondary teacher.
  Content
  
  The programme will prepare you to meet the demands of the profession through the following areas of study:
  
      * Professional studies
      * Curriculum studies
      * School experience
      * Religious education. (Students who complete this course will be awarded the Catholic Teacher's Certificate in Religious Education.)
  
  Secondary teaching qualifications are offered in the following subjects:
  
      * Art and design
      * Business education
      * Computing
      * English
      * Mathematics
      * Modern languages - (French, French with Spanish, French with Italian, French with German)
      * English and classics
      * History and classics
      * Biology
      * Chemistry
      * Physics
      * Geography
      * History
      * Modern studies
      * Religious education.
  
  Interviews
  
  An interview is a required part of the application procedure. The University starts interviews in December and these run monthly until the programme is filled. It is likely that the University will require to ask the Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR) to extend your application at some point in order to meet these timescales. It is your responsibility to decide if you wish your application to be retained and to advise the GTTR by the date they supply. If your application is Declined by Default because you have not responded within the GTTR timescales the University cannot guarantee that it will be reinstated.
  
  Interviews consist of written work, group discussion, (an individual presentation) and an individual interview. You will be asked to bring original copies of your qualifications with you. If you cannot attend any particular interview date the University does not guarantee that it can offer an alternative date.
  
  The University will notify applicants to send academic transcripts if these are required to support an application.
