Objectives
You will develop postgraduate skills in assessing and managing neuromuscloskeletal conditions affecting the athlete using massage and soft tissue mobilising techniques, sports skills-specific rehabilitation design and integrated management strategies. You will attain high levels of autonomy and clinical decision-making skills to apply to practice and extend your knowledge and clinical therapeutic skills to a specialist level.
Entry requirements
Applicants should normally: -have an honours degree (minimum 2.2 class) in physiotherapy be chartered physiotherapists, registered with the Health Professions Council -have post-registration experience working in an associated field while enrolled on the course -have experience of and commitment to sport -have access to a sporting or appropriate musculoskeletal environment on a regular basis for the duration of the specialist clinical modules.

PgCert Physiotherapeutic Management of the Athlete
This course enables registered physiotherapists working in neuromusculoskeletal or sports-related practice to develop advanced clinical skills and an in-depth exploration of academic knowledge related to sports-specific practice. The course is endorsed by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
You will attain high levels of autonomy and clinical decision-making skills to apply to practice and extend your knowledge and clinical therapeutic skills to a specialist level.
Course structure
You will study three allied modules which cover a range of clinical and practice issues in sports-related physiotherapeutic practice: Sports Massage and Soft Tissue Manipulation, Sports Skill Analysis and Rehabilitation Design, and Integrated Management of the Athlete.

This course will enhance your ability to work in a sports-specific environment or as an advanced practitioner or extended scope practitioner specialising in managing neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
