Entry Requirements:
Suitable for graduates in music; graduates from other disciplines such as cultural studies, history and philosophy who have appropriate knowledge of music will also be considered.
A first or upper second class Honours degree, or equivalent, is required.
Applicants should possess or expect to obtain a first or upper second class UK Honours degree, or equivalent. In addition, applicants should supply evidence of appropriate skills in written and spoken English (usually via a score of 570 on TOEFL (230 on computer based marking) or band 6.5 on IELTS) and, if relevant, foreign language skills.

Course Description:
This innovative and unique programme of study explores the interrelationships between Western 'Classical' music, other perceived categories of music, and the cultural and political context in which music exists.
You take four modules in Stage 1 which, once successfully completed, is followed by a final project in Stage 2. For the pattern of part-time study in Stage 1, please consult the School.

* Music, Culture and Politics in the Modern World
* Two options: students choose from a number of staff research-led topics
Stage 2
* Dissertation (20,000 words)
