Objectives
In an increasing competitive environment, purchasing and supply chain managers need to demonstrate competencies, for example leadership and decision-making that will enable them to stand out from the crowd in order to enhance their management ability. The MSc Strategic Procurement Management is a specialist postgraduate masters programme that offers high level strategic teaching in the areas of; strategic purchasing and supply chain management, creative procurement economic policy and market analysis, global supply chain networks and trends, operational strategies and project management, commercial law and relationships, financial management, sustainability, ethics and corporate and social responsibility, research methodology and complexity thinking (CES). The aim of the MSc Strategic Procurement Management is therefore to produce graduates with a sound grasp of current and emerging theories and philosophies associated with purchasing and supply chain management, with emphasis on relationships with other corporate functions, and with other activities in the supply chain. Students will be given the opportunity to develop significantly their knowledge of the concepts and practices of purchasing and supply chain which can, in turn, be applied to the benefit of their own organisation.

The Division of Supply Network Management is also a CIPS Centre of Excellence, CIPS Level 7 Executive Diploma accredited Centre and the MSc Strategic Supply Chain Management is accredited to MCIPS. We are also the preferred supplier of professional and masters programme for the Chartered Institute of Logistics (CILT).
The Division of Supply Network Management Team & the Wales Transport Research Centre (WTRC)
The team is close knit and highly motivated. All team members have vast senior management experience which includes a variety of positions in this specialist field in both private and public sector organisations. The team consists of one professor and three Doctors and has an active publishing record, conducting a range of research within their specialisms which includes; public and private transport policies and operations, supply chain dynamics and agility, the supply chain as a complex evolving system (CES), public and private sector procurement, construction, automotive networks, operations and project management, manufacturing, service and retail management, logistic and transport networks and policies. In addition, the team networks with both academics and practitioners within the UK, Europe and internationally, and this wealth of experience and knowledge will be brought to the delivery of this programme, putting it at the forefront of teaching will be challenging but fun.
There are no examinations in this programme. All assessments will be in the form of typically 3,000 – 6,000 word research assignments.
All full-time and non-MCIPS graduants will automatically become student members of CIPS and associate members of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) after enrolment, which will enable access to research material through the CIPS web-site and the CILT knowledge bank, plus other student benefits.
This programme is also accredited to CILT and students will eligible to become full membership of this professional body on completion of this MSc programme.

How To Study
The MSc Strategic Supply Chain Management is available on a full and part-time basis. We offer the traditional part-time delivery, where study during the evenings and we also offer an intensive study weekend programme, where you come to the University one weekend in six.
We can also be very flexible for groups of student’s who wish to tailor a programme that suits them in terms of when, where and how often the lectures take place. This is useful for organisations and associations.
The Fast track and CIPS accreditation
Due to CIPS accreditation of our MSc, if you hold the CIPS Graduate Diploma, you can gain exemptions from xx of the 10 modules and join the ‘MSc Fast Track’.
Career prospects
It is our experience that a correlation exists between higher qualifications and successful career development. This development is increasingly geared to the ability of the candidate to demonstrate a credible qualification. Evidence suggests that many students will achieve a significant improvement in employability and/or salary and career progression following successful completion of a specialist masters programme such as the MSc Strategic Procurement management.
Consequently, students graduating from this programme are able to demonstrate as managers, specialist knowledge to help them co-ordinate and adapt their purchasing and supply chain activities, responding to the dynamic needs of the 21st Century business environment.
