• Objectives
  The modernisation of the NHS workforce has necessitated the introduction of new roles with extended competencies and functions. This, together with a closer integration of the NHS with other public organisations such as Social Care, Prison Services, Education and the Independent and Voluntary sectors clearly signals the requirements for a flexible health and social care workforce that is responsive to needs and is able to offer transferable knowledge and skills.
  
  This programme is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of practitioners in the relevant fields in order to meet the demands of service and the needs of the individual/client/family and community.
• Entry requirements
  Applicants for BSc/BSc(Hons) must have:
  
  experience of, or be working in, an area that enables them to meet the learning outcomes of the programme
  completed a recognised diploma level programme for health care practitioners
  240 credits (of which not less than 100 credits are at Level 2 or above) in a related area or equivalent through the Faculty A(E)L processes
  or
  
  successfully completed the accelerated route at Level 2 for access to Level 3
  Applicants for the Postgraduate Certificate/Postgraduate Diploma/MSc are normally required to have good first degree or its equivalent in a relevant subject area.
  
  Students without a relevant degree should be able to demonstrate through experience and records of achievement that they can fulfil the demands of the programme. A combination of academic qualifications and experience will be considered on individual merits.

  -Two Core Modules - all programmes

  -Supported Practice and Research Enquiry – all programmes
  -Choice Modules – all programmes
  -MSc Dissertation Module – MSc only
  
  The choice modules provide flexibility, allowing individuals to tailor the programme to their specific needs. A wide variety of choice modules are available, including: Leadership and Change, Integrated Assessment, Evidencing Work-Based Learning, Applied Pharmacology, Prescribing Practice (all programmes), Legal and Ethical Issues and Dilemmas in Health and Social Care (MSc only), and many more.
  
  Teaching and learning
  Delivery of the modules will vary and may include conventional classroom based work, work-based learning, independent study, e-learning, action learning sets, and enquiry based learning.
  
  The focus will be on supporting and promoting the development and integration of theory, practice and research within a framework that facilitates inter-professional learning.
  
  Assessment
  Assessment may take the form of coursework, presentations and portfolio of evidence.
