Entry requirements Normally an honours degree or recognised equivalent qualification We welcome enquiries from people with substantial management experience but do not have the normal entry requirements. We may invite you for an interview to discuss your background, experience and qualifications. Our aim is to ensure you can achieve success on this masters course, but please contact us if you wish to discuss your own concerns. Through accreditation of prior learning (APL), you may be able to claim entry with credit or exemptions based on your existing qualifications, knowledge and experience. If your first language is not English you must produce evidence of competence in English such as a TOEFL test minimum mark, paper-based 550, computer-based 213, internet-based 79 or an IELTS score of 6.0.

Course description
The hospitality industry is rapidly growing throughout the world and employment prospects of graduates are excellent. Designed and delivered by an industry-experienced team of academic staff, this course is for people who wish to start or develop a career in the international hospitality industry.
You explore managing international hospitality organisations and the issues involved such as • sector industry analysis • marketing • hospitality concepts and innovation • entrepreneurship and leadership • internationalisation of hospitality.
You learn to assess your own self-development and develop your team leadership and presentation skills.
You can work on real consultancy projects. Past examples include • franchise developments • hotel feasibility studies • catering consultancy work on nutritional standards • evaluating the market penetration strategies of multinational firms when entering foreign markets.
We offer full-time study here in Sheffield and opportunities for work experience. You can choose to extend your studies and gain work experience by going on a work placement. This UK or overseas placement of typically 6 to 18 months helps you improve practical management skills and increase employability.
You follow modules through postgraduate certificate and diploma levels as explained in the course content section below. If you choose the work experience option you take an extra management module and a shorter MSc dissertation or project.
