Objectives
To provide: an integral part of scientific and medical training in immunology for Calman Specialist Registrars, Grade A/B clinical scientist trainees in immunology, histocompatibility and immunogenetics, biomedical scientists, industrial partners and (overseas) research fellows; and greater awareness and knowledge of recent advances in the physiology of the immune system.

Entry requirements
people with a first or second class honours degree in the biological sciences, or a medicine, dentistry, veterinary studies, pharmacy or nursing qualification. Those with MIBiol or FIBMS may also apply. You must be affiliated to an Immunology department or similar in a UK university, hospital or similar institution.

Programme description
- An integral part of scientific and medical training in immunology for Calman Specialist Registrars, Grade A/B clinical scientist trainees in immunology, histocompatibility and immunogenetics, biomedical scientists, industrial partners and (overseas) research fellows.
- Greater awareness and knowledge of recent advances in the physiology of the immune system.
The programme covers basic molecular and cellular immunology; the role of immunological mechanisms in autoimmune, systemic inflammatory, hypersensitivity, infective, immunodeficiency and neoplastic disorders in which the immune system is involved, as well as clinical transplantation and clinical immunology laboratory management; major laboratory techniques of diagnostic medical immunology.

Programme format and assessment
Lectures one day per week; written essay papers 50 per cent; written practical/data interpretation examination 25 per cent, assessment of research project dissertation 25 per cent.
Duration
Two years PT, lectures one day per week, September to September.
