    This innovative programme reflects the development needs of practising managers and consultants who are expected to deal with a changing job role. It will appeal to people who already have some awareness of organisational problems and who have experience in one or more functional area, usually gained through a management role. It will also appeal to those with a more generalist, technical or professional background who wish to enhance their leadership skills.

    Course structure
    The programme will develop your skills and knowledge through a series of modules in the areas of leadership, organisational change, consultancy skills, personal effectiveness, strategy and the business environment, human resource development and managing technological change.

    Strategic Business Environment
    One of the main leadership challenges facing organisations is how to develop strategies that reflect changes in the external business environment. This module explores key aspects of the national, European and international environment, including the impact of economic, political, technological, legal, social and environmental factors. You will explore the key concepts, theories, contexts, competencies and techniques involved in strategic decision-making and strategically managing an organisation. You will study selected issues of strategic analysis, strategy formulation, strategic choice and decision-making, leadership and strategy, and strategy implementation. This module makes extensive use of issue analysis and case studies

    Personal Effectiveness and Leadership
    This module develops your underlying knowledge and personal effectiveness skills including conflict-management, leadership, team-building, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills to enhance your leadership. It will help you to identify the key factors that contribute to your own self-development and to evaluate your leadership performance. You will be able to identify your strengths and developmental needs, putting together a personal action plan.

    The Management of Change
    This module helps you understand how to develop a business strategy as a starting point to change. It will enhance your understanding and skills in planning, managing and evaluating change and strategic processes. You will be able you to contribute to developing business strategy and managing change in your organisation.

    Business Consulting and Facilitation
    This module helps to enhance your knowledge and develop the necessary skills to carry out effective consulting projects, as internal or external consultant, change agent or project manager. You will develop skills such as coaching, mentoring, facilitating, counselling and project management.

    Organisations and Technological Change
    You will examine organisational and technological change, adopting a critical and reflective perspective on the nature, management and response to change initiatives. This module enhances your understanding and knowledge to manage technological and organisational change, including an understanding of the role of information and communication technologies, knowledge management, and the role of people in technological change.

    Management Research
    This module aims to provide you with knowledge of research strategies and is designed to help you understand the processes involved in conducting effective research. You will see the significance of theoretical principles in the research process And understand how important it is to present clear and credible arguments and evidence to support research design and findings.
