    Surgical oncology is a recognised speciality in surgery in the UK. The introduction of this programme, unique in the UK, is designed to provide an attractive and exciting learning opportunity for overseas medical graduates.  The overall aims of this programme are to provide you with the skills, knowledge and values to enhance your practice of surgical oncology. It will also give you a solid base of research methodology that will be useful in pursuing clinical research at MD/PhD level.

        * Major theories underlying the aetiology of cancer
        * Pathology and pathophysiology of common problems in the field of surgical oncology
        * Surgical modalities for common solid tumours
        * Role of audit, the multidisciplinary team and specialism in surgical oncology
        * Detailed and reasoned clinical management plans for the diagnosis, staging and treatment of patients with cancer, including factors which determine operability
        * Plan and execute a substantial piece of original clinical research or audit with the support of a dissertation supervisor.
