Course description
This programme is designed to meet the needs of health professionals in a variety of practice situations and to enable them to enhance and develop their practice through further study. This part-time programme, through the integration of theory and practice, will enable the student to develop their practice to an advanced level.
The programme consists of modules in research methods and public health which will serve as an underpinning core. Students then focus on their clinical practice and undertake specific modules including a work based learning module which includes a variety of flexible learning techniques such as personal development plans, open learning and work based-learning.

* The final stage of the programme is a research project in the student's area of interest. Students are allocated a research supervisor from the outset of the programme who will facilitates project development to completion.
Teaching and Assessment
Teaching uses a range of methods from formal learning, small group work to open and electronic delivery. Assessment is by both coursework and the compilation of a practice based portfolio.

Supplemental Information
After attending the course you will be able to apply theoretical concepts and implement research strategies and critically evaluate theories and models, literature and data relevant to advanced practice.
The course will also help you to critically appraise evidence-based findings relevant to a client group, and enhance an area of professional practice relevant to quality healthcare delivery, and also to demonstrate the ability to relate theory to practice through demonstration of a higher level of practice.
