Objectives
The MRes consists of a range of generic research training modules taken via the Graudate School and a 30,000 word dissertation on a topic proposed by the candidate on application to the Centre. Areas of supervisory expertise include: Spoken English Issues in Assessment and EAP needs analysis EAP and e-learning Foundation Programme design Quality Assurance International programme management.

Entry requirements
The Centre is happy to consider applications from experienced teachers in the field of English for Academic Purposes who want to carry out a substantial piece of research, or action research, without committing to more than one year’s study or to the demands of PhD level work.

-The Centre for English Language Education (CELE) offers an exciting and stimulating environment in which to study. It is one of the largest University Centres worldwide for English for Academic Purposes (EAP) having teaching, comparative research and data-gathering opportunities in both the UK and China at the Ningbo campus.
-The Centre holds a substantial archive of Chinese students’ writing and oral interviews and welcomes applications from researchers in this area.
Course Content
During this course, you will take a number of generic training modules designed to give you the skills and understanding you will need to complete an extensive piece of independent research.
You will then be required to complete a supervised dissertation on a subject of your choice of around 30,000 words. You will be allocated with a project supervisor who has experience in your chosen subject area.
Course Structure
This course is taught on a full-time basis over one calendar year.
