Course description

Course Content
The MBA provides you with an understanding of theoretical and conceptual bases of strategic leadership, and of the emerging social, political and economic themes that impact upon it. Beyond the acquisition of knowledge and technical skills, the curriculum puts theory into practice by focusing on the personal development of participants through such competencies as decision-making, team work, leadership skills, entrepreneurial potential and presentation skills.
Students undertake the following taught modules:
* Economies, Markets and Strategic Decisions (20 credits)
* Strategic Financial Management (20 credits)
* Strategic Planning (20 credits)
* Strategy as Practice (20 credits)
* Strategic Supply Chain Management (20 credits)
* Strategic Leadership (20 credits)
Students then proceed to:
* Research Methods (20 credits)
* Dissertation (40 credits)
How To Study
You will spend about 400 hours in lectures, seminars or individually supervised by a tutor. You will also complete reading and assignments such as group projects, strategic analysis of organisations, preparation for presentations, case study analysis and the preparation of marketing and business plans. Group work is encouraged and visits are arranged to relevant organisations. Students are also encouraged to attend specialist guest lectures.
You will be assessed through written assignments, examinations and/or project work. The MBA involves the completion of a dissertation. Please note: The MBA is a post-experience degree seen as a career accelerator after a minimum of three years’ professional experience. Younger graduates should consider the MSc in Management.
