Objectives
We are designated as a Centre of Excellence by the Institute of Personnel and Development. Students who obtain this Masters degree are granted graduate membership of CIPD and are exempt from CIPD’s examinations. Our MA in Personnel and Development offers you: i) a well-established course which gives you graduate membership of the Institute of Personnel and Development; ii) development of skills and competence in both general management areas and human resource management; iii) the opportunity to apply your learning to relevant organisation-based assignments and reports; iv ) the opportunity to work in small groups with other students in personnel from a wide range of organisations; v ) the opportunity to involve your organisational sponsor in supporting your learning and development; and vi) a specialist pathway for those whose interest is in Training and Development.

Entry requirements
You should: i) be working within a personnel department or related area and intending to develop your career in personnel management; ii) possess a UK Honours degree (or overseas equivalent). You may be considered without a degree, where you can demonstrate five or more years as a human resource professional at a suitable level of responsibility. Each case is assessed on its merits. You will need to have the active support of your organisation so that you can effectively complete work-based assignments and can maintain your course attendance.

-The course will be delivered using a mix of lecture groups, tutorials, small group working and individual study. You will be assessed by a range of measures including competence-based assessment, portfolios, examinations and a management report.
