• Objectives
  The course aims to foster critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of the varying philosophical and research bases for nursing The completion of the MSc Nursing Practice will enable Nurses to enhance their practice and consider new roles. There will be opportunities for career progression to more senior posts within the NHS. This course will enable students to enhance practice and consider new roles.

  Programme
  
  Students will be supported to learn independently at an advanced level. Negotiation of teaching and learning strategies is a strong theme of the course. You will have access to all the University’s resources including the Managed Learning Environment and the programme leader will be available to provide feedback on progress. Students studying this programme can expect to study a range of modules including:
  
  -Innovation, Leadership and Advancing Quality in Clinical Practice (15 credits)
  
  -Research Designs (30 credits)
  
  -Dissertation (60 credits).
  
  Clinical modules:
  
  -Theoretical Basis for Nursing Practice (30 credits)
  
  -Integrating Practice and Theory (30 credits).
  
  Optional module:
  
  -Students may choose an optional module from a range of multiprofessional
  modules available within the Faculty.
  
  The course commences in Sept/Oct with an induction day introducing students to each other, the learning facilities, the enrolment process and focusing on core modules to be studied during the first year. The exact date for induction will be sent to you in your letter of offer once you have made an application and been accepted
  
  Teaching/assessment
  
  A variety of teaching methods are used to deliver the course including lectures, seminars, small group discussions, clinical practice, debates, on-line learning, academic supervision, reflection, problem solving and independent study. The assessment includes essays, learning contracts, reports, assessed seminars and a dissertation.
