    The academic staff through their research activities are very interested in trying to develop new approaches and solutions to the challenges facing the medical and biomedical practitioners. The group have developed strong links with medical schools in, France, Germany, the USA and the UK. Collaborations in a number of projects with the Lincoln Health Trust also help to promote the research activity of the group.

        * The role of inflammatory mediators in Gaucher's
          disease.
        * The effect of particulate orthopaedic materials on human osteoblast membrane transpor1 in the presence of physiological strain.
        * The investigation of various drugs/reagents on human bone and cartilage cell metabolism in tissue culture.
        * Ion Transport in leukocytes, erythrocyte, platelets, osteoblasts and chondrocytes.
        * Diabetes Mellitus and Vascular Disease.
        * Microbial ecology in dermatology patients.
        * Skin microflora in patients under treatment for acne.
        * Bacteriocins and food safety.
        * Transfer of antibiotic resistance in hospitals.
