Course content
Starting with a course in visual language and the techniques of drawing, the first term will be spent in achieving a grounding in the basics of automotive design. Vehicle packaging, automotive modelling, and the business of the automotive industry are all covered in lectures, seminars and studio classes within the first three months. We have an ongoing programme of visiting lectures delivered by senior figures in automotive design, automotive journalism and business.
The second term will involve further skill developments plus a 'live' design project run in conjunction with the automotive industry. Our recent collaborators include PSA (Peugeot-Citroen), Ford and Renault. During this exciting project you will learn to work in teams to achieve a design output for demanding clients.
During the third term of four you will undertake more design projects whilst commencing the research necessary for your MA major project. That major project takes up the whole of the final term leading up to the industry-sponsored MA Degree Show at the end of the year.
