Course description
Introduction
Developed in collaboration with industry, this course seeks to equip graduates, and those with appropriate industrial experience, to move rapidly from a supervisory or technical role to a managerial one. Students gain knowledge and skills across a broad range of technologies including manufacturing, planning and scheduling and project management, and total quality engineering. Emphasis will also be given to the development of interpersonal, team building and networking skills. The School has invested in a range of new industrial software to support the course, including simulation and modelling packages.

One-week intensive modules for part-time students.
The postgraduate diploma requires the satisfactory completion of seven modules forming the taught part of the course. In addition, on satisfactory completion of a major industry-based project, the PgDip can be converted to MSc CIMM. The course may be completed in one year by full-time attendance or extended over a period of part-time study to suit students and their employers.

The target role for a graduate of this course is the management of a modern manufacturing plant. The breadth of knowledge and skills in management and technology will equip graduates to move rapidly from a basic engineering role to a management position, dealing with multi-disciplinary projects.
