Course description
The aim of this programme is to provide students with a critical research-based understanding of a broad range of key issues in organizational theory and behaviour, with the opportunity of specialising in a particular area of study. Specifically, it aims to develop students' capacity to analyse organizational problems, both in conceptual and practical terms, and to carry out research in terms of critical appraisal, theory development and the application of theories, concepts and principles. The programme will enable students to develop a clear understanding of organizational issues and the multi-disciplinary context in which this knowledge exists, and give them the opportunity to develop their knowledge of a specialised area of organizational analysis.
In addition to the compulsory module(s) in Research Methods in Management appropriate to the degree level, students on these programmes are required to take two further compulsory modules - Principles of Organization and Management and Issues in Organizational Theory and Behaviour. They must then choose one module from a list of core modules, and their final two modules are a free choice. The dissertation must be written in the field of organizational analysis.
