By the end of the degree, students should: • Have an advanced understanding of theory and practice in international studies and security. • Have developed advanced skills of discussion, analysis and evaluation. • Have developed a network of contacts with other specialists in the fields of international studies and security.

    Programme structure

    Core

    In the first year of this two-year programme, students
    take the following core modules.

    • Introduction to Global Political Economy
    • Approaches to International Relations
    • Dimensions of Strategy

    In the second year of the programme, students choose
    2–3 of the following core/optional modules.

    • Approaches to Globalisation and Governance
    • Case Studies in International Relations
    • Applied Strategy

    All students must write a 15,000 word dissertation.

    In Addition

    In the second year of the programme, students may
    choose any one of the following optional modules as an
    alternative to any one of the core/optional modules
    listed above.

    • Parliaments in the modern world
    • Comparative Legislatures
    • Parliament and Government
    • Parliament and Citizens
