Course description
General programme structure
This MA provides the opportunity for individuals to develop design/craft ideas through an intimate knowledge of material and making processes. Materials and craft skills are not seen as an end in themselves. Process and content are considered as interdependent and mutually enriching. You may be interested in new applications for established methods or wish to be exploiting the opportunities that technology makes available. We offer a student-centred and multi-discipline/material approach to studying including: wood, metal, plastics, textiles and ceramics, furniture, lighting and mixed-media combinations of any of these and additional disciplines.
Detailed programme structure
The PgDip stage consists of four taught modules:
Defining direction through practice
-Design thinking
-Multiples and the maker
-External context.
These modules are designed to develop your practice, critical and theoretical understanding.
The MA stage consists of one module involving the combination of a practice-based MA Project and a text-based dissertation.
