  • Objectives
    The wide range of interests within the Department is reflected in the flexibility of the law degree and the broad range of courses available to students. A law degree equips students with the academic skills required for a career as a solicitor or barrister and also opens the door to a number of other career options. You will find that we also offer a cosmopolitan, friendly and supportive environment in which to study this fascinating subject.
  • Entry requirements
    Entry Requirements * A/AS levels: Three A levels are normally required. Two AS levels considered in place of one A level, other than in French for the LLB/Maîtrise. General Studies accepted. * French Law and Language: A level French (or equivalent) required. * LLB/Maîtrise: A level French (or equivalent) required. * LLB Senior Status: A University Degree from a recognised and certified institution, equivalent to an undergraduate degree from a British University with an overall average of a high 2.2 or equivalent. Applications from other countries are welcome. * GCSE: English language strongly preferred. * Access to HE courses: Pass, with at least the requisite credits at Level 3 (including French for the Law with French Degrees). * European Baccalaureate: Pass with 80% overall (including an 8 in French for the Law with French degrees). * International Baccalaureate: Pass Diploma with 36 points, including two 6s at Higher Level, 36 points and 6 at HL French (or 5 if French is taken as a mother tongue) for the Law with French degrees. * French Baccalaureate: Pass with 14 points overall. * Cypriot Apolytirion: Either 19/20, or 18.5/20 and BB or equivalent at A level, plus an English language qualification. Grade A in French as above for Law with French degrees. * Leicestershire Progression Accord: AAB plus full Accord credits, plus French proficiency, as above, for Law with French degrees. * BTEC Nationals: DDD, plus any subject/GCSE requirements. * Other qualifications: Other national and international qualifications welcomed. * Mature students welcomed: Alternative qualifications considered. * Second Year Entry: Not normally possible.
