Objectives
Law influences us all every day. Whether you're buying a ticket, downloading something from the internet, or using a mobile phone, law governs and encompasses your everyday life. Our programmes aim to develop your understanding of the fundamental principles of law in 21st century society - not only what has gone before to make the law how it is, but how the law reacts to the real world right now. We're interested in what you think, and how you consider the law ought to react. Law is also concerned with communication and your skills in this area are an essential part of your legal education. Mooting is encouraged at Sheffield, and our students enter national competitions, having even represented England at an international law moot court. The LLB Law course is the core programme in the School's portfolio of qualifying law degrees. It introduces you to all the basic subjects necessary for you to develop a critical understanding of modern English law. As your knowledge increases we want you to be able to appreciate and understand how the law works in 21st century society and how it changes and develops. We are offering over 40 options in both traditional and highly innovative subjects, affording you the opportunity to specialise in your final year.
