Explore your creative photographic potential on location
Your first session will commence with an introductory talk at the Arts University College, followed by practical demonstrations and live assignments, the Landscape photography course offers you the opportunity to learn creative techniques and make the most of available lighting at varying times of the day on locations within the Purbecks and surrounding area.
You will need to have completed ‘Developing Your Photography Skills’ or possess equivalent skills in photography, know your way around the controls of your camera and really want to build on the foundation of knowledge you already have.
You will learn to develop interesting, atmospheric and creative compositions, understand the secrets of metering correctly and take correctly exposed shots. You will expand your understanding of how light affects your images, making the right lens choice and appreciate how Depth of Field and Hyper-focal distance control can add impact to your images.
While emphasis throughout this course will be to capture high quality creative results, you will be offered the opportunity to understand the use of creative filters – including graduated, neutral density and polarising filters.
Other topics covered in the Landscape course include; correct use of tripod, use of self-timer, long exposures, creating panoramas, stitching images and post-production techniques that will enhance your images even further.
To assist your development and understanding, your tutor will set you a series of assignments in which to consolidate skills learnt and push your creative abilities and personal photographic style. Your tutor will also set time aside for group critical discussions and feedback, which will offer you the opportunity to perceive through subjective observations.
Entry requirements:We recommend you complete 'Developing your Photography Skills' or have an equivalent understanding of the subject.
You will need to be able to travel to various locations for the classes.
