• Course description
  The core of the course is the stream on international accounting which consists of three modules taken over terms 1, 2 and 3. These classes seek to provide students with an international perspective to the study of accounting so that they can develop an understanding of the reasons for national differences; the tendencies towards harmonisation; and the problems of multinational companies. This is done within the context of supporting classes on accounting theory and research methodology.
  
  The Department of Accountancy and Finance has staff with wide range of expertise and research interests. Edinburgh is a city with a substantial and long-established financial sector. It is a major centre for fund management and it contains the head offices of two of Britain's largest banks. The University has good links with the financial sector.
  
  Students take six core modules and two modules from a list of options, as shown below. Satisfactory completion of these modules will lead to the award of a Diploma. Students studying for the MSc go on to undertake a dissertation over the summer months.
