Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to the wide-ranging subject of embedded systems for students whose first degree is in a science or a non-electronic engineering subject. With the rapid expansion of the use of computer components in items that affect our everyday lives, there is a need for professionals who understand the issues and the terminology.

Entry requirements
Entry Requirements Preferably, but not exclusively, a First or Second Class Honours Degree in a suitable numerate Science or Engineering subject. Recognised overseas equivalences will apply.

Course description
Duration
One year (MSc), 9 months (Diploma), 6 months (Certificate). May also be available part-time over 2 years.
These embedded devices (from mobile phones and TV set-top boxes at one end of the spectrum to washing machine controllers and burglar alarms at the other) are being incorporated into larger systems that use internet technology, and multimedia technology. The course includes material relevant to this aim. A major project and dissertation is undertaken during the summer months.
