Course description
The Graduate Diploma/Certificate in Photography Practice builds upon the rich history and tradition of photography teaching in the college. The course aims to prepare you for postgraduate research practice and study and career opportunities within the field of professional photography.
The course informs and reinforces the importance and relationship between traditional image capture skills and the development of new and personal hybrid methodologies. This approach prepares you to engage in the development of your study to Master’s level, as well as being appropriate to sustainability in your future employment. You will be given challenges on this course through set and self initiated projects promoting learning through discovery, interaction and response to change.
Subject areas covered include: photography research, silver-based to digital imaging and commercial applications of photography. A range of elective units include: photojournalism, critical approaches to photography, fashion and beauty photography and a work attachment (offered subject to availability). Students continuing to the Diploma will undertake a unit in research methodology and a major project.
