Objectives
The overall aims of the programme are to balance educational needs within a vocational, professional framework. In addition, the programme aims to provide a broadening of career choices, professional status and educational opportunities. These aims are achieved by the provision of a curriculum, which develops the student’s knowledge, comprehension and application of the theory and practice of formulation science, specific to a range of formulation based industries e.g. the pharmaceutical and personal product industries.

Course description
This programme builds on BSc Hons physical science degrees e.g. chemistry, pharmacy, pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences and other relevant scientific undergraduate programmes.
The programme is designed to give a background to specific issues and challenges associated with formulation science specifically for the pharmaceutical, personal product and fine chemical industries which are abundant in south-east England. Students who complete this programme will have a good understanding of concepts and ideas in formulation science as they relate to the personal product, food, printing, and reprographic industries.
Students who complete the programme will have an appreciation of the factors that go in to the formulation of a high-quality product, have a good advanced set of techniques and have knowledge of current formulation techniques resulting in increased employability with respect to the general formulation industries.
