Course description
The philosophy of the MBA Finance is to provide broad based postgraduate management studies, following on from undergraduate programmes, which allow for a focus on areas of finance relevant to business and management. The aim of the programme is to assist students with their career development.
Entry requirements
For entry, you should normally have an Honours degree or an equivalent qualification. For applicants whose first language is not English, proof of proficiency in English will be required. Applicants will normally have a minimum of two years' post experience.
Course content
The course consists of taught modules and a dissertation. Core taught modules cover the main functional areas of business and management, other modules relate to financial areas and one prepares students for writing their dissertation.

MBA Finance
MBA Finance is for students wishing to have their
programme tailored from a financial and accounting
perspective. All MBA students commence with a generic
common core but in the 2nd semester MBA Finance
students then specialise by studying relevant financial,
accounting and investment issues from a managerial
perspective. Successful MBA Finance students may also
receive some exemptions should they choose to later study
for professional ACCA examinations.
Semester 1
All MBA students (regardless of their
chosen route) study FOUR core
management modules. These are:
• Human Resource Management
• Marketing Management
• Financial Analysis & Decision Making
• Economic Environment of Business
Semester 2
Strategic Management
(Studied by all MBA students.)
In addition, students must choose a
further THREE modules from a list of
modules relevant to their named MBA
award. These are indicated below:
MBA General Management students

Semester 3
During the final semester all students
will undertake a module on Research
Methods and either a company
internship or a dissertation in a
specialist area relevant to their chosen
MBA. In each case, the student will
have an allocated staff member acting
as their personal supervisor.
If the dissertation is chosen, staff
members will supervise dissertations
that fall within their area of expertise or
alternatively, staff will suggest topics
which lie within their specialist expertise.

MBA General Management,
MBA Finance, MBA International
Business and MBA Marketing courses
are all semester-based. There are two
start dates each year.
