Objectives
* This new innovative programme has been designed and developed in order to produce Hearing Aid Audiology graduates who will be fit for purpose, award and practice. DMU is the first to deliver such training. * The course provides a challenging balance between the development of core skills and professional practice in working as a hearing aid audiologist with knowledge and skills in basic sciences, medical aspects of audiology, audiological techniques, counselling and rehabilitation * This programme aims to ensure graduates have the freedom of employment within the Public or Independent sector in an integrated hearing aid profession * It meets the needs of the Independent sector employer and NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework

Entry requirements
Entry requirements Students must be able to demonstrate a mature approach to learning, be sponsored by an employer and normally have achieved: * At least five GCSE subjects at Grade C or above, including Mathematics, English, and a Science Award or equivalent and * At least one A level (or equivalent) in Science * Students who haven't achieved these qualifications, but are able to demonstrate relevant experience will still have their applications considered, and will be asked to attend an interview to discuss further. Students should be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English. Any student not possessing an English language GCSE should be able to demonstrate an IELTS score of 7.5 Students must have a satisfactory CRB status, be in sufficiently good health to practice without risk to themselves or others and demonstrate knowledge of the profession.

FdSc Hearing Aid Audiology
Programme
This foundation degree aims to give students the opportunities to develop the knowledge and inter-personal clinical and professional skills necessary to practise as competent reflective Hearing Aid Audiologist. It aims to develop their intellectual abilities through the study of hearing and hearing aid technology, be able to assess need, develop care pathways and evaluate different rehabilitation strategies.
