Course description
Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary combination of social, natural and physical science. At its core is the idea of sustainable environmental management. This involves developing an understanding of the physical landscape and how society impacts on the environment. Solutions to environmental issues are investigated from a diversity of perspectives including scientific, political, legal and philosophical positions.
The programme is geared to producing professionals who are able to deal with local and global environmental issues both academically and practically. Students learn about underlying causes of environmental problems and are presented with possible solutions from a range of scientific, technological and societal perspectives. The programme produces graduates who are able to document human impact on the landscape, explore environmental conflicts and issues, develop environmental policy and law, and manage the environment sustainably.
As a member of the Erasmus exchange scheme, we have collaborative arrangements with universities in the Netherlands, Italy and France that permit students to study abroad for a period of time. Such experiences add to the students' experience and CV.
