What is this course about?
You learn about patterns, motifs, colour and textures and how to develop these into fashion and textile designs. Studying textiles from diverse cultures and the work of artist and designers extends your understanding of the subject. Take a look at a gallery of coursework produced by students on this course.
What will I study?
On this course you experiment with patterns, motifs, textures and colour while researching a wide variety of cultures, artists and designers. Project work will involve:
* Researching cultures, artists and designers using books, visits and the internet
* Drawing from observation
* Using experimental drawing techniques to record your research
* Visiting exhibitions to develop your knowledge of fashion and textiles
* Developing fashion and textiles design
* Creating fabric samples and final pieces using techniques such as batik, silkscreen printing and embroidery.
What can I do after the course?
After the A2 course you can go to Art College or University or study on a vocational course e.g. Higher National Diplomas. Close to 80% of our A-level students progress to Higher Education. Alternatively, you could choose to enter employment.
