  • Entry requirements
    You should check the level of this course to see if it matches your ability. This course is open to complete beginners. Learners must be able to purchase their own glass and materials when required. They must be able to use tools such as Stanley knives and saws.
  • Course description
        This is a practical course. You will need to bring a picture to the first session – nothing to large or too small - 15cm (6 inches) x20cm (8inches) approx would be ideal. You will be guided through the stages of cutting a mount, making and assembling a frame to fit your picture.
        By the end of the course you will be able to:
        - cut a mount
        - frame a picture
        - continue framing projects independently
        - stain and wax moulding
        - explain the reasons for conservation framing.
        Equipment is provided in a workshop environment

    Course Structure:
        This is a practical class with weekly demonstrations. You will work on you own projects sometimes collaborating with a peer. There are opportunities for 1 to1 tuition as well as whole class instruction.

    Course resources:
        All students have access to our fully equipped, state-of-the-art Learning Centres at 3 College Centres. This includes free Internet access.

        Teacher feedback. Learner self assessment. Finished frames
