    You should check the level of this course to see if it matches your ability. This course is open to complete beginners and students who have attended a previous picture framing course. Learners must be able to purchase their own glass when required and use tools such as Stanley knives and saws.
  • Course description
     
       This is a practical course. You will need to bring a picture to the first session – nothing to large or too small - 15cm (6 inches) x20cm (8 inches) approx would be ideal. You will be guided through the stages of cutting a mount, making and assembling a frame to fit your picture. You will learn a variety of mount cutting and framing techniques.

        By the end of the course you will be able to:
        - cut a mount
        - frame a picture
        - plan and execute further framing solutions for your chosen artwork
        - cut double mounts
        The course will be negotiated with students according to their interests and experience and may include:
        - making a box frame
        - framing oils on canvas
        - applying washlines to a mount
        - executing a variety of decorative mount cutting techniques
        - framing textiles
        - staining and glazing mouldings

        You will have the opportunity to complete several projects of your choice during a term

    Course Structure:
        This is a practical class with weekly demonstrations. You will work on you own projects, sometimes collaborating with a peer. There are opportunities for 1to1 tuition as well as whole class instruction.
