Course description
What is this course about?
This is a course that reflects current trends in the Performing Arts industry. It provides opportunities for adults to increase their practical and theoretical knowledge and to gain access to both vocational and higher education in the area. Acting and dance techniques, interdisciplinary and production modules are covered.
What will I study?
Topics include voice and movement, television technique, audition technique, contemporary dance, choreography and you have substantial opportunities for performance. Research skills will be developed through the study of theatre history, performance practitioners and cultural perspectives in performance.
You will work as part of a company and will be involved in devised and scripted productions throughout the year.
What can I do after the course?
On completion you will be able to identify a suitable higher education route in performing arts or other suitable professional routes. You will have an awareness of the personal, social, academic and vocational demands of a career in the performing arts.
You can apply to a range of courses at universities, vocational dance and drama schools. We have an excellent record of enabling Access students to progress unto higher education. You can go on to higher education or to further training at a drama school or to related employment. Past students have progressed to Central School of Speech and Drama, Middlesex University, De Montfort University and Dartington College, amongst others.
