Two years - full-time.
What does it include?
The OCR National Diploma in Business is 3 "A" Level equivalent qualification. The programme aims to provide students with an in depth understanding of the operations and structures of businesses and also to equip students with the skills required to succeed in employment or at university. The course will involve businesses in the public, private and voluntary sectors. Students will cover a range of topics that include:
* Investigating Business
* Customer Service
* Business Communications
* Finance for Business
* Marketing for Business
* Law
* Skills and the entrepreneur
Students will also have to complete their Key Skills in Communications, Application of Number and Information Technology as well as demonstrating their ability to work with others in a team environment.
Due to the European nature of the programme students will have to study a European language and may l have the opportunity to attend a European residential.
What type of assessment will be used?
Student learning will be assessed on a continuous basis during the course through case studies, presentations, reports and time-constrained activities.
What do I need to get on to it?
Students would normally have gained a GNVQ Intermediate, BTEC First Diploma with Merit or at least 4 Cs at GCSE to include English. Students who do not have the normally entry requirements but who do have substantial industrial experience will be considered providing they pass the Colleges English and Numeracy initial assessment tests. All candidates will be expected to attend an interview.
Where does it lead?
Students that successfully complete their programme of study could progress onto a Business related degree or a Social Science related degree e.g. Law, Economics or Psychology. Previous level three students have gone directly into employment in areas such as retailing and banking, others have set up their own business.
