AS & A2 Levels: Two years - AS in year one, leading to A2 in year 2.
What does the course include?
As its title suggests, the course develops the skills you have acquired in GCSE English. You will study poetry, novels and drama, while developing your practical language skills through tasks involving comprehension, analysis, summary and adaptation.
What do I need to get onto the AS/A2 level?
You will need a minimum of grade B in GCSE English Language
AND
To study 3 AS levels, you need to have 4 other GCSEs grades A-C (obtained in one sitting).
To study 4 AS levels, you need to have 5 other GCSEs grade A-C (obtained in one sitting).

What type of assessment is used?
Three examinations at the end of each year. In both cases, one of the papers will be open book. When the course is followed over one year, all six examinations are taken at the end of the year.
What else can I study?
Almost anything! Although English Language and Literature combines naturally with subjects such as Sociology, Politics, Media Studies and Psychology, the skills that it develops also support Business Studies and Law.
