Course description
This course is for beginners & intermediate learners who want to make clothes to a high standard
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- Make clothes for yourself from a list which includes, TOPS, SKIRTS & TROUSERS.
- Experienced learners can make more advanced clothes using techniques which include setting in sleeves, making up & applying a collar & different types of pockets.
- Have knowledge of types of paper patterns & fabric to use.
- ‘read’ a paper pattern plus lay, pin & cut out fabric
Learners are required to supply all patterns, fabrics, interlinings & linings and a comprehensive work box of sewing equipment (list of equipment supplied at first session) learners have the use of sewing machines, overlockers, irons & metal rulers in the workroom
Course Structure:
Classes typically have about 12-14 learners working on their own assignments. There is a weekly demonstration to introduce new procedures + catch up time twice during the course of the term
Course resources:
All students have access to our fully equipped, state-of-the-art Learning Centres at 3 College Centres. This includes free Internet access.
