Course description
This part-time two-year course is validated by London Metropolitan University and leads to the Dip HE Fine and Applied Art, Ceramics. Designed for mature students with some previous ceramic experience, or experience of other art-based study, the course encourages your development within the framework of a broad-based programme. A portfolio of 2D work (including sketchbooks) and 3D/clay work is needed for interview.What is the course about?
Two year programme of study leading to a DipHe Fine and Applied Arts - Ceramics.
What topics will we cover?
The first year of the course is project based dealing with all aspects of Ceramic processes, including glaze technology. In the second year of the course students are working towards their final exhibition with self planned projects.
Both techniques and ideas are taught alongside each other throughout the course. There is also an Art History and Ceramics contextual studies unit taught in both years.
By the end of this course you should be able to:
Using the experience gained on the course, you will not only achieve a university qualification but will also be competent to be an independent maker within the field of Contemporary Ceramics.

How will I be taught?
Lectures, demonstrations, seminars, one to one tutorials, group tutorials, slide lectures, gallery visits.
Are there any other costs (e.g. certification, materials, equipment or books I need to buy)?
Most materials are covered by the course fee, but you will need your own tool kit and overalls
What feedback will I get?
You will be formally assessed throughout the course both by an internal panel and an external assessor. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
