Course Description
You will learn a range of pattern cutting techniques on this 20 week course, including block-making and fitting and pattern cutting techniques used in contemporary fashion.
What does the course lead to?
This course can be combined with BTEC Essential Fashion Skills- Level 2
BTEC Advanced Pattern Cutting- Level 3
Taking commissions and setting up in business.
The portfolio of work that you produce will support your application for employment or further education study.
What does the course involve?
This is a one year course at level 2, for those wishing to work in the fashion industry. Together with the level 1 course, it will give students a complete working knowledge of Pattern Cutting for today’s market. It can also enable you to set up in business in the couture sector or to go on to further education in fashion.
You will be taught how to:-
* Produce advanced pattern lays
* Work with difficult fabrics
* Stretch wear
* Outerwear
* Lingerie
* Produce patterns by modelling
* Draped styles
* A range of sewing techniques
* Produce blocks and patterns for childrenswear
* Grading Methods
Course duration and hours
The course runs on Mondays 10.00-1.00 for 30 weeks
How much should I study outside class?
Approximately 4 hours per week.
How is the course assessed?
Assessment is continuous and mock tests are conducted throughout the course.
