Entry requirements
Who is this course for? For people aged 18 or over who have A-level or Advanced Vocational Certificate or adults aged 21 or over who have completed a preparatory art and design course, and who want to study to degree level. What do I need to get on the course? You should have a portfolio of work and have achieved one of the following levels of qualification: * One A-level and three GCSEs (grades A-C) * A-levels and two GCSEs (grades A-C) * or five GCSEs at (grades A-C). Other acceptable qualifications are, for example, a degree, a BTEC National Diploma, GNVQ Advanced, or overseas qualifications.For mature students (age 21 or over) only. You do not need formal qualifications but you must provide evidence of recent relevant study, work or experience.,
Course description
What is this course about?
This is a course to teach students to be independent thinkers and designers in preparation for a degree in the subject of their choice or a diploma in a vocational subject such as pattern cutting or tailoring. The course is arts and design but based around textiles and fashion. Good drawing skills are required as is a strong commitment to work in this area. You explore textile and fashion techniques that are groundbreaking, experimental and not led by the industries. You will learn a wide range of techniques and skills in:
* textiles and fashion
* fashion illustration
* drawing
* colourwork
* design development
* presentation
* contextual studies (embedded in all modules).

Degrees in textiles, mixed media, fine art textiles, fashion, theatre, jewellery, accessories, shoes, styling, pattern cutting, garment technology, fashion illustration. Vocational diplomas in tailoring, shoes, accessories, embroidery, knit, pattern cutting and garment technology.
