    Entry requirements Learners wishing to start a bricklaying apprenticeship must be employed in a Bricklaying environment for a minimum of 16 hours a week and must first enrol on the L2 Diploma in Bricklaying course. Entry to the apprenticeship programme will then be at the tutor’s discretion.

    General information

    The bricklaying apprenticeship is available for learners aged from 16-65 who are employed in the construction industry. College attendance is on a day-release basis and assessment will take place in the workplace. Learners are required to build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their skills, understanding and knowledge of the subject. Training is provided through workshop sessions, tutorials and classroom teaching.  

    On successful completion of this programme, learners will be classified as semi-skilled craftsmen.
     
    Course content

    In-house training will take place one day a week and regular assessments and reviews will occur in the workplace. Learners will work towards an NVQ level 2 in Trowel Occupations, Diploma Level 2, (a combination of practical and theory work), level 1 Keyskills in Application of Number and Communication, Health and Safety and Employer's Rights and Responsibilities.
