Course description
This flexible part-time course provides optometrists with up-to-date knowledge of a wide range of fields, particularly in primary care optometry. Emphasis is placed on ‘shared care’ or ‘co-management’ of patients with other medical disciplines and the expansion of the optometrist’s role in ocular therapeutics. The course integrates clinical and theoretical knowledge, making extensive use of expert practitioners.
Within the modular MSc course in Clinical Optometry credits can be accumulated towards a postgraduate certificate, diploma or MSc, or students can attend modules to gain CET points. Students have a seven-year period to complete their chosen route and the MSc project/dissertation must be completed within one year of registration.
Introduction
The Department offers an innovative and flexible postgraduate programme for Optometrists. This programme has been hugely successful with hundreds of optometrists from the UK and overseas joining the programme.
