Course description
Course structure
This 120-hour course provides an excellent introduction to network security and overall security processes. The Academy provides on-line access to the curriculum, instruction and the on-line tests. Appropriate hands-on laboratory and skills tests required by Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP) are included throughout the course by our qualified instructors in our well-equipped networking laboratories. Each class starts with a short instruction session and then you are left, with some help, to work with the laboratory equipment. The practical work is the major part of the course and does require regular attendance and practice.

-Security Policy Design and Management
-Security Technologies, Products and Solutions
-Firewall and Secure Router Design, Installation, Configuration and Maintenance
-AAA Implementation using Routers and Firewalls
-VPN Implementation using Routers and Firewalls
Certification
On completion, you will be fully prepared to take the MCNS (Managing Cisco Network Security) and CSPFA (Cisco Secure PIX Firewall Advanced) exams in preparation for the Cisco Firewall Specialist. These exams will also count towards the CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional) certification. Successful completion of the course will also prepare you for the CompTIA Security exam and for further network security study.
Assessment
Assessment is by a combination of continuous assessment through end-of-chapter multiple-choice tests, final online test, plus practical skills examination.
Career opportunities
On successful completion of the course a Certificate of Competence is awarded by Cisco. The award from the Academy is well received by industry, because it is supported by gained practical experience.
Attendance & duration
Full-time: 16 weeks,
Part-time (eve): 24-26 weeks, two eves a week
(September start: Tues & Thurs, 6-9pm;
Feb start: Mon & Wed 6-9pm)
