    Programme

    -During Year 1 you will look at the role of the coach and teacher at all performance levels of sport and apply theories relating to skill acquisition, coaching and teaching to a range of practical situations. The programme will examine physiology, biomechanics and psychology, together with relevant social sciences. You will also gain valuable training in research techniques.
     
    -In Year 2 you look at the principles of energy metabolism and energy transfer during physical activity. You will gain a thorough grounding in sports biomechanics, sport and exercise psychology, together with the principles of fitness training. You can assess performance demands in sport and explore the attitudes of society towards sporting participation.
     
    -Your final year will include an in-depth study of both applied sport biomechanics, and exercise psychology. You will utilise your theoretical knowledge and practical skills to assess the importance of nutrition in maintaining health and optimising sports performance. The programme will also focus on processes of exercise testing and prescription, with particular reference to adult fitness and cardiac rehabilitation.
