Entry requirements
Entry requirements * GCSEs at grade C or above in English Language, Mathematics and one other subject * A minimum of 200 UCAS Tariff points (including at least two science subjects at Advanced Level, one that should include chemistry). Applications are welcome from candidates with other qualifications including AVCE, Access Courses, GNVQ, BTEC ND, Irish Leaving Certificate and Scottish Advanced Highers. Applications from mature and international students are welcomed and are considered individually.

BSc Pharmaceutical Science
Programme
Delivered by a team of subject experts, the programme is designed in Year One to deliver subjects such as chemistry, biochemistry and microbiology, which give the scientific background to the programme. Formulation, through a comprehensive course in compounding, and process technology are also introduced. Personal and communication skills are developed at the same time.
Year Two provides an emphasis on integrated work in analytical chemistry, product development and formulation, applied pharmacology, applied microbiology, process technology and quality issues.
Year Three applies skills in an industrial placement to the development and manufacture of products in the formulation laboratory, manufacturing department or related business area of a pharmaceutical or cosmetics company.
Core study in the final year involves deeper study of dosage form design, manufacturing processes, product safety and analytical science. Two of the six taught modules in the final year can be chosen from the Drug Delivery option or the Cosmetic Products option. The final year research project will also be in the chosen option.
