    Entry requirements * Normally 240 UCAS Tariff points from a minimum of two subjects at Advanced Level (or equivalent) * And * Normally Five GCSE's at grade C or above (or equivalent), including English and Maths. However, we are also keen to talk to mature students (21+) who have relevant industry experience and/or relevant training but who do not meet the above formal qualifications. * BTEC Diploma/Certificate, Advanced VCE(s), Advanced GNVQ, Scottish Higher and Irish Leaving Certificate.

    Programme

    The programme comprises 11 taught modules and an Individual Project module and includes:

        * Creative Problem Solving Techniques: provides knowledge and understanding of the basic concepts and principles involved in the creative problem solving process
        * Principles of Systems Design: development and use of the systems based concepts, principles and techniques involved in the design and implementation of operations within industrial and service organisations
        * Principles of Operations Planning: examines techniques for planning and scheduling of operations within industrial and service organisations using such techniques as Just-in-Time
        * Systems Modeling and Simulation: the principal method of designing complex manufacturing systems using computer-based simulation modelling is examined and used by students to develop and to analyse manufacturing system models and to improve manufacturing systems designs
        * Lean and 6-Sigma Operations Design: covers the basic lean and 6-sigma tools used to analyse industrial, manufacturing and service operations and introduces the different types of processes, and the strategies behind their selection and design
        * Facilitation and Control of Operations: physical and visual methods of planning and controlling operations at the workplace are becoming essential to developing quick responses to both external customer demands and internal work flow interruptions
        * Environmental and Sustainability Planning: will introduce students to the problems, issues and solutions involved in environmental planning and control and the development of sustainable products.
