BSc Mathematics
Programme
Year one
You study Core Mathematics under the three headings of Analytical and Computational Foundations, Calculus, and Linear Mathematics; this includes an introduction to the symbolic algebra package Maple. You also begin studying at least two of the three main subject areas within Mathematics, namely Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Probability and Statistics.
Year two
Choosing from a wide range of optional modules, you continue the study of at least two of the three main mathematical subject areas (and start studying the third, if you missed it in the first year).
Year three
You choose from a wide range of advanced optional modules, one of which may be a stand-alone project. You can specialise in one of the three main subject areas, receiving (if you wish) the degree in Mathematics (Pure Mathematics), Mathematics (Applied Mathematics), or Mathematics with Statistics. Alternatively, you can choose a broad course including modules from all three areas.
